Project Name: The Montrose Doorstep Geen Project
Project Phase: Project Complete
Aims:

• To produce two external mosaic of diameter 1.5m depicting a local flora and fauna theme.
• To produce four individual Vitreous Glass Tesserae mosaics each pre-set on a ‘concrete biscuit’ for final placement as ‘markers’ within the Montrose Project site.

Objectives
  • Collaborate with Abbeyfield school pupils to produce artwork depicting the selected theme of local flora and fauna for incorporation into the art feature, using as much pupil produced artwork as possible.
  • Create two circular (1.5m diameter) mosaics for external siting.
  • Provide a half day workshop for community members introducing mosaic techniques, enabling the completion of individual mini-mosaic projects by each participant.
  • Designs to be prepared by students’ from King Edward V1 High School, incorporating drawings from the consultation which took place with pupils from Abbeyfields First School, guided by J.A Projects Manager Christine Jamieson.
  • King Edward V1 pupils will complete each of the following stages
    1. Select four preferred designs from Abbeyfields drawings
    2. Complete design for mosaic to include Abbeyfields drawing enhanced with a border of their own design.
    3. Complete the mosaic’s production by the end of July 2005
